Steve Ankenbrandt, a founder of Rock Apartment Advisors, graduated from Auburn University in 1987 and earned an MBA in Real Estate and Finance from the University of Georgia in 1992. His career began as a lender at SouthTrust Bank in 1988. He spent eight years as a commercial real estate appraiser and in 2000 entered the investment sales field at Harbert Realty Services. In 2003, Rock Apartment Advisors, was started to provide institutional quality apartment brokerage and research services to secondary and tertiary markets in the Southeast. Since Rock’s founding , the company has brokered over $1.2 billion of apartment properties and currently provides survey services in 7 apartment markets. He is married to Elizabeth and has three kids – Joseph, Lucy, and Will.
Ryan Griffin, a founding member of Rock Apartment Advisors, started working with Steve Ankenbrandt in 2002 at Harbert Realty Services before leaving with Steve to form Rock Apartment Advisors in 2003. Ryan focuses on economic underwriting and capital sourcing and is intimately involved in nearly every assignment. Ryan studied economics and finance at Auburn University and the London School of Economics. Ryan played baseball for Auburn and was once a fly fishing guide in Crested Butte, Colorado. He is from Dallas, Texas and is married to Wansley and has three children - Tarver, Rip and Bob.
David Wilson, MAI is part of the Sales Advisory Team at Rock, bringing 18 years of real estate valuation experience to the team. David is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, where he majored in real estate and insurance. In 1993, David moved from his hometown of Dallas, Texas, to Huntsville, Alabama, to form his own appraisal company. His appraisal company’s focus over the past several years has been providing appraisal, market studies and consulting service for apartment properties. He and his wife Beth reside in Huntsville with their two children – Brandon and Kathryn.
Joseph Holt is on Rock's Sales and Advisory Team and focuses on financial modeling, transaction management, and equity placement. Clients appreciate Joseph’s diligence on assignments and ability to ensure a successful result in every transaction. Joseph has closed deals in numerous markets across the Southeast including Birmingham, Knoxville, Mobile, and Fort Walton Beach. Joseph’s attention to detail in every transaction enables successful results that establish relationships with the client far outlasting the closing of the deal. He is from Auburn, Alabama, and graduated from Auburn University, majoring in Entrepreneurship and Family Business with a minor in Finance. During his college years, Joseph enrolled in the Rock Intern program where he expanded the Rock Report to include three new markets. Shortly after graduation he moved to Birmingham to join the Rock Team.
Betsy Munger is Rock's Marketing Director, handling production of all print and web materials and our annual Rock Reports. She is from Huntsville, Alabama, and graduated from Auburn University in August 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design. Betsy spends her free time illustrating and taking pictures.
Shay-lyn Porter is Rock's newest team member and is our Research Manager. Shay graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Human Resources and in Shay's college years, she enjoyed making lemonade at Toomer's Drug's.
